Product Description
This Talavera Fruit and Calla Lily Kitchen Tile Mural measures approximately 32 x 20 inches and is handcrafted in Mexico from 40 individually hand-painted 4x4 inch ceramic tiles arranged in an 8 x 5 horizontal layout with a glossy kiln-fired glaze. Its richly layered still-life composition combines elegant white calla lilies in a cobalt blue-and-white Talavera vase, matching pitchers, cups, bowls, and a raised pedestal fruit bowl overflowing with red and green grapes, pears, apples, oranges, citrus fruit, and pineapple. On the right, a dark wine bottle, clear stemmed glass, blue candlestick with a burning candle, strawberries, cherries, additional fruit, and hanging kitchen utensils add a refined culinary character. A soft ivory background and warm wooden tabletop allow the saturated cobalt, green, red, purple, yellow, and orange tones to remain visually prominent. Ideal for kitchen backsplashes, dining rooms, breakfast areas, restaurants, wine rooms, covered patios, and Spanish or Mediterranean-inspired interiors, this mural brings handcrafted Mexican color, abundance, and elegant still-life artistry into the wall design.

Design
The mural uses a wide horizontal composition that balances floral elements on the left, abundant fruit in the center, and wine and kitchen accessories on the right. The result is a visually rich still life with multiple focal areas that remain connected through repeated cobalt pottery, green foliage, and warm fruit colors.
The scene is intentionally layered. Large calla lily leaves rise behind the pottery, grape clusters overlap the pedestal bowl, and smaller fruits and ceramic vessels extend toward the foreground. These overlapping forms create depth while maintaining the clear decorative character associated with hand-painted Mexican tile murals.
Calla Lilies and Floral Elements
A large arrangement of white calla lilies dominates the left side of the mural. Their curved white petals, golden-orange centers, and long green stems rise from a richly decorated blue-and-white Talavera vase.
Additional calla lily blossoms and broad leaves extend across the lower foreground, visually linking the floral arrangement to the fruit and pottery at the center of the scene.
Fruit Still Life
The central fruit arrangement emphasizes abundance and hospitality. A decorative pedestal bowl holds a colorful collection of pears, apples, oranges, citrus fruit, grapes, and pineapple. Large clusters of deep red and light green grapes cascade naturally over the sides.
Smaller fruits including strawberries, cherries, limes, oranges, and additional grapes are scattered across the tabletop, creating a relaxed market-inspired still-life effect.
Talavera Pottery
Traditional blue-and-white ceramic vessels are one of the defining visual elements of the mural. The collection includes a large floral vase, pitchers, cups, bowls, a pedestal fruit bowl, and a second decorative fruit vessel.
The cobalt floral patterns contrast against white ceramic surfaces and repeat throughout the design, giving the mural visual continuity and a distinctly Mexican decorative character.
Wine and Kitchen Details
A dark wine bottle and a clear stemmed glass occupy the right side of the mural, adding a refined dining-room and entertaining theme. Beside them, a tall cobalt candlestick supports a white candle with a glowing flame.
Above the still life, a wooden rack holds hanging metal utensils including spoons, a spatula, and small pans. These subtle culinary details reinforce the mural's suitability for kitchen, dining, and restaurant installations.
Background and Tabletop
A soft ivory ceramic background keeps the composition bright and allows the saturated fruit, flowers, and pottery to stand out clearly. The lower portion transitions into a warm wooden tabletop painted in golden-brown tones.
This restrained background creates visual breathing room while allowing the detailed still life to remain the primary focus.
Regional Design Influence
The Talavera Fruit and Calla Lily Kitchen Tile Mural draws inspiration from the ceramic traditions associated with Puebla and Dolores Hidalgo, where blue-and-white pottery, floral decoration, food imagery, and hand-painted ceramic surfaces have long been used in kitchens and architectural interiors.
The arrangement also reflects classic still-life traditions in which fruit, flowers, tableware, wine, and domestic objects symbolize hospitality, abundance, and everyday beauty.

Production and Craftsmanship
The mural is divided across 40 individual 4 × 4 inch ceramic tiles. Each tile contains a planned portion of the fruit, flowers, pottery, tabletop, wine, candle, or surrounding details.
When installed in the correct 8 tiles wide × 5 tiles high configuration, the pieces form a continuous horizontal mural measuring approximately 32″ wide × 20″ high.
Artisans apply ceramic colors and glazes before kiln firing to achieve the vibrant glossy surface. Small differences in brushwork, shading, glaze intensity, and alignment are normal characteristics of handcrafted production and contribute to the individual character of each mural.
Handcrafted in Mexico
Each tile is individually decorated as part of the complete mural composition. Artisans carefully coordinate fruit, floral stems, ceramic patterns, vessels, and surrounding details so the image aligns across the entire tile grid after installation.
The finished mural combines traditional Mexican pottery decoration with a colorful culinary still life suitable for both rustic and refined interiors.
Artisan Note
“Fruit, flowers, pottery, and food are natural subjects for kitchen murals because they represent abundance, hospitality, and the colors of everyday life.”

Installation Tips
Before installation, dry-lay all 40 tiles on a clean, flat surface in the correct 8 tiles wide × 5 tiles high arrangement. Confirm the continuity of the pottery patterns, flower stems, fruit clusters, tabletop, candle, wine bottle, and other painted details before applying adhesive.
Install on a stable, flat substrate using an adhesive appropriate for glazed ceramic tile. Maintain consistent grout spacing so the artwork remains aligned. Non-sanded grout is generally preferred for decorative glazed tiles because it is less abrasive to the surface.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Clean the mural with mild pH-neutral soap, warm water, and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid acidic cleaners, abrasive powders, metal scrubbers, bleach, and harsh chemicals that may affect the ceramic glaze. Maintain grout and perimeter joints as appropriate for the installation environment.

Slight variations in color, brushwork, glaze texture, shading, dimensions, and tile alignment are natural characteristics of artisan ceramic production and contribute to the unique appearance of each mural.
