Warranty

At Rustica House, every product is handcrafted by skilled artisans using traditional metalworking, woodworking, stone carving, ceramic, upholstery, and finishing techniques. Because our products are made individually rather than mass-produced, slight variations are part of their character and should not be considered defects. This warranty explains what is covered, what is not covered, and how warranty claims are handled. Please read this policy carefully before placing an order.

Limited Product Warranty

Rustica House warrants that its products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use from the date of delivery, subject to the terms and limitations described below.

This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable.

What This Warranty Covers

This warranty covers manufacturing defects that occur during normal residential use, including:

  • Structural failures caused by defective craftsmanship
  • Material defects present at the time of manufacture
  • Loose welds or failed solder joints caused by manufacturing
  • Manufacturing defects affecting normal product function
  • Defective fabrication resulting in improper assembly
  • Defective stone carving or fabrication that prevents normal product use
  • Hardware supplied by Rustica House that fails due to manufacturing defects

Natural Characteristics Are Not Defects

Rustica House products are individually handcrafted. Every product is unique and no two pieces are identical.

The following characteristics are considered normal and are not covered under warranty:

  • Hammer marks and artisan tool marks
  • Small dimensional variations
  • Natural color variation
  • Hand-applied patina variation
  • Wood grain differences
  • Natural copper oxidation
  • Brass aging and darkening
  • Zinc color evolution
  • Iron finish variation
  • Natural leather variation
  • Ceramic glaze variation
  • Natural stone color and tonal variation
  • Stone veining, mineral deposits and fossil markings
  • Natural pores, pinholes and surface texture in Cantera stone
  • Minor variations in stone carving, edges, profiles and dimensions
  • Natural fissures that do not affect the structural integrity of the stone
  • Small handmade irregularities

Stone Products

Cantera and other natural stone products are carved from naturally occurring material. Color, texture, density, porosity, mineral patterns, veining, fossil markings, surface openings and other visual characteristics may vary within the same product and between products made from the same type of stone.

Stone products may differ from photographs, display samples, digital images and previously purchased pieces. An exact match in color, grain, texture or pattern cannot be guaranteed. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone and are not manufacturing defects.

Minor tool marks, carving variation, softened edges, pores, pinholes and small surface irregularities are expected in hand-carved Cantera stone. Natural fissures that do not impair the structural performance or normal use of the product are also not considered defects.

Patina, Finish and Stone Changes

Copper, brass, bronze, zinc, iron, steel, wood, leather, natural stone, and other authentic materials change over time. Exposure to moisture, oils, cooking vapors, sunlight, cleaners, humidity, air quality, minerals, weather, and daily use will gradually alter their appearance.

Natural stone may darken when wet, develop mineral deposits, absorb oils or moisture, weather outdoors, or show gradual changes in tone and surface texture. Porous stone may also develop staining or discoloration when it is not properly sealed, cleaned, drained, or maintained.

These changes are natural characteristics of authentic handcrafted materials and are not considered product defects.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover damage caused by factors outside of manufacturing defects, including:

  • Improper installation
  • Improper ventilation installation
  • Improper plumbing installation
  • Incorrect electrical installation
  • Improper structural support
  • Improper installation or support of stone products
  • Buyer-supplied insert failures
  • Shipping damage not reported promptly
  • Accidents
  • Misuse or abuse
  • Commercial use unless specifically approved
  • Improper cleaning products
  • Abrasive cleaners
  • Acidic cleaners or chemicals used on natural stone
  • Chemical damage
  • Heat damage
  • Standing water damage
  • Hard water deposits
  • Mineral buildup, efflorescence or staining
  • Failure to seal or maintain natural stone when sealing is recommended
  • Cracks, chips or breakage caused by impact, movement or insufficient support
  • Freeze-thaw damage caused by improper installation, drainage, sealing or maintenance
  • Damage caused by prolonged exposure to salt, chlorine or corrosive chemicals
  • Normal outdoor weathering of natural stone
  • Normal wear
  • Surface scratches from regular use
  • Dents caused after delivery
  • Unauthorized modifications
  • Repairs performed by third parties

Ventilation Inserts

Rustica House offers an economy 200 CFM insert for selected range hood models. Buyers may also supply their own ventilation insert. When a buyer supplies an insert, Rustica House builds the hood to accommodate the provided specifications.

The warranty covers only the handcrafted hood itself. Buyer-supplied inserts, blowers, motors, electrical components, remote controls, lighting systems, and related accessories remain covered solely by their respective manufacturers.

Stone Installation

Natural stone products must be installed by qualified professionals using appropriate structural support, setting materials, plumbing connections, drainage methods, sealants and installation procedures for the product and installation location.

Stone sinks, fountains, fireplace surrounds, columns, wall features and other architectural stone products can be heavy. The buyer and installer are responsible for confirming that floors, walls, countertops, cabinets, brackets, foundations and other supporting structures can safely carry the product.

Rustica House is not responsible for cracking, movement, settling, separation, water intrusion or other damage caused by inadequate structural support, improper handling, incorrect installation, building movement or unsuitable installation materials.

Shipping Inspection

Please inspect every shipment immediately upon delivery.

If shipping damage is discovered:

  • Note the damage before signing for delivery whenever possible
  • Take clear photographs of the packaging and product
  • Retain all original packaging materials
  • Notify Rustica House promptly after delivery

Stone products should remain in their original packaging until the buyer or installer has inspected all visible surfaces, edges and components. Installation of a visibly damaged product may affect the available freight claim or warranty resolution.

Delays in reporting shipping damage may affect freight claims.

Warranty Claims

To submit a warranty claim, please provide:

  • Your original order information
  • Photographs showing the issue
  • A description of the problem
  • The date the issue was discovered
  • Installation photographs when the claim involves a sink, fountain, fireplace or architectural stone product

Additional photographs or information may be requested to evaluate the claim.

Warranty Resolution

If Rustica House determines that a manufacturing defect exists, we may, at our sole discretion:

  • Repair the product
  • Replace the affected component
  • Replace the product
  • Provide replacement parts
  • Offer another appropriate solution based on the specific circumstances

Replacement natural stone products may vary in color, texture, veining, mineral pattern and surface characteristics from the original product. Rustica House cannot guarantee an exact visual match between natural stone pieces.

Limitation of Liability

Rustica House's responsibility under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of products determined to contain manufacturing defects.

Rustica House is not responsible for labor costs, installation costs, removal costs, plumbing costs, electrical costs, ventilation costs, masonry costs, structural work, cabinetry modifications, countertop modifications, wall or floor repairs, refinishing, sealing, lost use, incidental damages, or consequential damages to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

Care Requirements

Proper care helps preserve the appearance and performance of handcrafted products.

  • Use mild soap and water for routine cleaning
  • Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals
  • Dry surfaces after cleaning when appropriate
  • Follow product-specific care instructions
  • Maintain recommended indoor environmental conditions
  • Use cleaners specifically approved for natural stone
  • Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar, bleach and abrasive compounds on Cantera stone
  • Seal porous stone when recommended for the product and installation
  • Prevent standing water and maintain proper drainage around stone sinks and fountains
  • Clean spills promptly to reduce the possibility of staining
  • Protect stone from impact and excessive concentrated weight
